Thank for for visiting John F. Kennedy's Middle School Civil War project! As teachers, we are very proud of the hard work and dedication that our eighth grade students displayed while studying the Civil War. This project that we titled as "Pride of Springfield" was a proof of concept attempt to integrate all four core subjects: social studies, ELA, science, and math. Our primary goal was to enlighten our students that history shapes our daily lives and influences our everyday decisions! Our secondary role was to point out that their residing city of Springfield, MA is a special place that is deeply enriched in Civil War history as well as a hub for many innovative technologies or technological advances that fueled America's economy.
As our students mature and grow to become responsible citizens, we hope that they will be inspired to continue their studies that will allow them to create a richness for their lives filled with creativity and new technological advances for their future lives!
Sincerely,
Lana Adero (ELA), Marc Gomes (Social Studies), Marissa Hickson (Science), Rainies Ward (Math), and Sheila Slawiak (Digital Literacy)
